How does Laser Genesis work?

Laser skin treatments use light and energy to stimulate the skin’s natural processes of healing, new skin growth, and collagen production. Collagen is a protein that helps to provide structure and elasticity to our skin. Starting in our 20s, our bodies start to produce less collagen, which is why our skin starts to lose its firmness and tone. As we age, we also accumulate skin damage from the sun and other environmental factors (such as smoking).

The Laser Genesis procedure works by gently heating the dermis, the tissue layer just beneath the skin’s surface, to stimulate healing and increase collagen production. Additionally, the heat from the laser helps to constrict blood vessels to reduce signs of facial redness and rosacea, as well as killing bacteria under the skin which reduces acne breakouts.

The Laser Genesis device moves over the targeted area in a repetitive motion, creating a sun-warming sensation that is comfortable and relaxing. The results are immediate and there is no downtime!

The treatment takes approximately thirty to sixty minutes to complete depending on the size of the treated area.

Is Laser Genesis safe?

This treatment is extremely safe when performed by an experienced highly-trained laser technician. It is non-invasive and generally produces minimal side effects. The most common side effect is temporary redness or irritation post-treatment which usually disappears within 30 to 60 minutes.

How often should I have a Laser Genesis treatment?

The number of Laser Genesis appointments depends on your skin type, condition, and desired aesthetic goals. Typically, we recommend patients to undergo a series of three to six treatments over the course of a few months.

What do I need to know before my Laser Genesis treatment?

Laser Genesis cannot be performed on skin that is tan or burned from sun exposure. Please avoid sun exposure for 7-14 days prior to your treatment. Self-tanner should not be used two weeks prior to your Laser Genesis treatment. Please discontinue the use of any topical prescription medications seven days before treatment.

What should I expect after the treatment?

After the treatment, you will notice an immediate glow. Some guests experience temporary redness or irritation which usually disappears within 30 to 60 minutes. Laser Genesis is a great “lunchtime” procedure since there is minimal downtime. You can resume your normal schedule directly afterwards. Unlike other more aggressive laser treatments, there is no peeling or burning associated with Laser Genesis.

Does Laser Genesis hurt? What does the treatment feel like?

You’ll be happy to know that Laser Genesis is a non-invasive treatment free of any pain or discomfort. During the treatment, you will feel a gentle warmness on the treated area. Many guests say the experience is quite soothing and relaxing, like sitting outside in the sun.

What kind of “skin smoothing” can I expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?

Over the course of your treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore your skin’s youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a healthier complexion as large pores are reduced in size and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.

How long do results from Laser Genesis last?

After the treatment, you will notice an immediate glow and will begin to see your skin tone restored in four to six weeks. You’ll experience the maximum results approximately six months after the treatment. For optimal results, multiple Laser Genesis treatment sessions are recommended.

While the aging process never stops, there are a few things you can do at home to maximize your results, such as following an effective at-home skincare routine using medical-grade skincare products. As always, it is critical to protect your skin from the sun with an SPF of 30 or higher as this is one of the worst offenders for skin damage and decreased collagen production.

How does Laser Genesis treat Rosacea?

This common skin condition causes the skin to appear red or flushed, most often affecting the nose, forehead, and cheeks. For some people, rosacea also causes thickening of the skin and acne-like bumps. While there is no cure for this chronic condition, Laser Genesis can significantly reduce the visible signs of rosacea by constricting the tiny blood vessels that cause redness and improving the skin’s overall texture and tone.
